Phuket, named the "Pearl of the South", is Thailand's largest island (800sq km) and a province in itself. Lying in the Andaman Sea, the island's terrain is incredibly varied, from rocky shores to long sandy beaches, limestone cliffs, forest hills and tropical vegetation of all kinds. Phuket is one of the world's top ten diving destinations and there are many good places around the island for diving or snorkeling. Whether staying in a luxury hotel or a comfortable bungalow on the beach, your time here will be very enjoyable. Phuket town has all the facilities, post office, hospitals, cinema and shops. Fantastic seafood is served all around the island.
KRABI PROVINCE
Krabi is famous for its scenic coast formations and stunning views. The people of Krabi are very friendly, the town is laid ]back and has excellent food. 9km outside the town are good beaches; Ao Nang & Raileh both afford good views of the limestone cliffs jutting in and out of the ocean. An hour's boat ride from Krabi town are Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta and Koh Jum, these islands are incredibly beautiful. Movies such as"The Man With the Golden Gun" and "The Beach" have been shot on location here. Krabi now has an airport putting it only one hour from Bangkok.

SURAT-THANI PROVINCE
The whole island of Samui used to be a coconut plantation. Things have changed now with 12 flights a day from Bangkok so do not let this put you off. Ko Samui is a very enjoyable place to spend your time. Samui has a casual 'do as you please atmosphere' that makes it very attractive. Apart from it's stunning beaches there are shore temples, water falls, a good night life and excellent water sports.

PHA NGAN
30 minutes by boat from Samui, less crowded than Samui, Ko Pha Ngan offers great little bays with bungalows on the beach. Hat Rin at the south of the island is unique in that you can watch the sunrise and with only a 20-minute walk away you can watch the sunset. Ko Pha Ngan is also very famous for it's full moon parties.
SATUN PROVINCE
Satun is Thailand's southernmost province bordering Malaysia. Islands such Ko Tarutao national marine park and Thalen Ban national park are main attractions. These places are totally unspoilt and have sparse but comfortable accommodation, less accessible than most places. Perfect for bird watching and nature.
